Krishna tells Abhimanyu , that look at all these soldiers, History wont be remembering these soldiers as they are commoners. They also can be struck by death suddenly. and as you are human too, you could also die in this war. hearing these worlds Abhimanyu's face expression suddenly changed. his face showed fluster and confusion as to why Krishna mentioned death in this regard.

Krishna continued, each death has its has its own importance. Lakhs and crores of people would die in this war, but in a sense they wont really die as the aatman is undying, and all people dying wont achieve fame and honour of dying in the war. This is defined in the destiny that each person carries when he or she takes birth.

After Abhimanyu's death, Krishna consoles the Pandavas on Abhimanyu's loss. Many are dejected, Krishna explains to them that there are many people dying in the war but they get sad only when they lost their own relations and are not worried when their commanders, soldiers die. This is all due to considering their own individuality and that they are situated in maya. Draupadi argues, but Krishna explains to her on her situation.
